Which links does this tool accept?
This tool checks the hostname and path before requesting media. It accepts HTTPS links on instagram.com and www.instagram.com, followed by /reel/, /reels/ or /p/ and a post ID. It converts an accepted path to https://www.instagram.com/reel/POST_ID/. Query parameters are not passed to the media retrieval step. These are this tool’s input rules, not a statement that every accepted post can be fetched. The post must still be accessible to the server.
Same Reel, different link formats: our test
Tested on 7 November 2026 against this site’s public transcription endpoint. We submitted each input separately. The first three inputs reference the same post. The final two inputs test rejection rules; they are not claims about unavailable public Reels.

The durations are the endpoint’s returned elapsedMs values, divided by 1,000. Character counts are JavaScript text.length, including spaces and punctuation. They are not accuracy scores or timing guarantees.
What came back from the accepted links?
Each successful request returned 986 characters. The returned source URL was https://www.instagram.com/reel/DdthLqSBfq3/. The three returned text strings were identical in this test. Their opening words were:

This establishes that those URL variants reached transcription for this one post on the test date. It does not establish word-for-word accuracy, support for all Reels, or reliable access to every public account. The input above makes a new request; this example is not substituted for your result.
If your link is rejected
A profile link returned “This URL is not an Instagram Reel or video post.” An unrelated hostname containing the text instagram.com returned “Use an Instagram Reel URL.” Both responses were HTTP 422. Copy the individual Reel’s URL rather than an account page. Do not enter Instagram credentials into the URL field. Removing tracking parameters cannot make an inaccessible post public, and a valid-looking link does not guarantee that Instagram will provide its video.
What this link test does not cover
The experiment covers URL handling for one accessible post, not transcription accuracy across languages, background music or video lengths. If a new request cannot retrieve media or return text, the tool shows an error instead of replacing it with the example. Check the returned words against the source before quoting them. Only reuse content you have permission to use.
